Education

We seek to deepen people's knowledge in, and experience of, the Christian faith in this place by:

  • conducting regular courses on the basics of the faith.
  • providing ongoing and continued nurturing for young people in our community.
  • commitment to regular training and equipping for leadership.
  • offering opportunities for different groups within our communities to meet others with similar needs.
  • developing relationships of fellowship and trust which will allow people to speak freely about their faith, and grow spiritually in a safe environment.

Social

We work to build relationships of trust and value, through which we seek to become a faith family which examples the unconditional love of God by:

  • holding regular community events that will encourage us to enjoy each other's company, have fun, and grow bonds of friendship and trust.
  • reviewing our welcoming and fellowship strategies at regular intervals to ensure that different groups within the church community are being catered for, and the newcomers are being made welcome and are drawn into the life of the community.

Mission and Outreach

We seek to offer mission and outreach to the glory of God in this place by:

  • reaching out with the love of God, and making Jesus Christ known in our community.
  • offering opportunities for people to deepen their life and experience in the Christian faith within our community and
  • supporting and encouraging mission and evangelism within the wider community. This may involve initiatives from within our own church family or working with others in mission or outreach projects.

Worship

We seek to worship God, and share the love and teachings of Christ in this place by:

  • holding weekly services on a Sunday morning which are meaningful and relevant to our own community culture, and
  • conducting and supporting services in our own and other worshipping communities, offering a range of worship styles.
  • ensuring our worship is seated in Bible teaching, and contains all the elements of prayer, praise and adoration appropriate to the uplifting and glory of God in our community.
  • ensuring the sacraments are celebrated regularly, and marked by worship of those with a variety of gifts and talents offered willingly to the glory of God.

Pastoral

We seek to support members of our faith family, fostering friendship, encouragement and pastoral care of one another.

  • serving as caring ambassadors of our church in this place, among those who, due to sickness, loneliness and mobility difficulties can no longer be part of the activities of the church as they would like.

Deacon's Court

In the Presbyterian Church in the South of the country, (south of the Waitaki River, ie: the Synod of Otago and Southland), Boards of Managers ore often referred to as Deacon's Courts. The word Deacon comes from the Greek word, Diakonos, meaning "servant".

Deacon's Courts look after practical matters within the church, such as finances, buildings and duty rosters.
